 Before him all the nations are as nothing;
    they are regarded by him as worthless
    and less than nothing.

Isaiah 40:17

So, they shouted louder, and following their normal custom, they cut themselves with blades and swords until the blood gushed out. They raved all afternoon until the time of the evening sacrifice, but still there was no sound, no reply, no response. Then I called to the congregation. Come over here; they all crowded around me as I repaired the altar of the Lord that had been torn down. I took 12 stones, one to represent each of the congregations of creation, and I used the stones to reconstruct the altar in the name of the Lord. Then, I dug a trench around the altar, large enough to hold about 3 gallons. I piled wood on the altar, cut the goat into pieces and laid the pieces on the wood. Then I said, “Fill four large jars with water and pour the water over the offering and the wood.” And they had done this, and I said, “Do the same thing again.” And when they were finished, I said, “Now do it a third time.” So, they did as I said, and the water ran around the altar and even filled the trench.

When you pass through the waters,
    I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
    they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
    you will not be burned;
    the flames will not set you ablaze.

Isaiah 43:2
