At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” They were using this question as a trap,in order to have a basis for accusing him.

John 8: 2-6

Recite what has been exposed to you from the prophecy of your Lord. None can change my words, nor can you find any refuge besides me, and patiently stick with those who call upon their Lord morning and evening, seeking my pleasure. Do not let your eyes look beyond them, desiring the luxuries of this worldly existence, and do not obey those cruel hearts I have made heartless of my remembrance, who follow only their desires, and whose state is total confusion. And say my servant this is the truth from your Lord, whoever will let them believe, and whoever will let them disbelief surely I have prepared for the wrongdoers for fire, whose walls will completely surround them. When they cry for aid they will be with water like molten metal, which will burn their faces. What a horrible drink, and what a terrible place to reside! As for those who believe and do good, I certainly never deny the reward of those who are best in deeds, they will have the garden of eternity with rivers flowing under their feet. They will be adored with bracelets of diamond and wear purple garments of fine silk and rich brocade reclining there on canopy couches. What a marvelous reward, and what a fabulous place to reside!

When Athaliah heard the noise made by the guards and the people, she went to the people at the temple of the Lord.  She looked and there was the king, standing by the pillar, as the custom was. The officers and the trumpeters were beside the king, and all the people of the land were rejoicing and blowing trumpets. Then Athaliah tore her robes and called out, “Treason! Treason!”
