Wisdom in Conversations: Biblical Lessons

Saint Ambrose Giovanni di Paolo (Giovanni di Paolo di Grazia) Italian 1465–70
2–3 minutes

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.  And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.  Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.  Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

Colossians 4: 2-6

It is impossible for a congregation which I have destroyed to ever rise again, until after evil and perversion have broken loose from their barrier swarming down from every mountain ushering in the true promise. Then, behold the disbeliever will stare and terror crying, “O, woe to us! we have truly been heedless of this in fact, we have been wrongdoers.” Certainly you disbeliever, and whatever you honor instead of God will be the fuel of disaster. You are all bound to eternity in Hell. I had seen those idols of false gods, they would not have plundered them, and they will be there forever in confusion, they will grown and will not be able to hear.

Shortly those for whom I have destined, the finest treasure will be kept far away from disaster, not even hearing the slightest kissing from it. And they will delight forever and what their souls desire the supreme honor of that day will not disturb them. And the angels will greet them saying, “This is your time, which you have been promised.” On that day, I will roll up the heavens like a scroll of inscriptions, just as I produced the first creation, so shall I reproduce it. That is a promise binding on me, I truly uphold my promises. Surely, following the expansive record I decreed in the inscriptions, my righteous servants shall inherit the land.

 How beautiful you are and how pleasing,
    my love, with your delights!
 Your stature is like that of the palm,
    and your breasts like clusters of fruit.
 I said, “I will climb the palm tree;
    I will take hold of its fruit.”
May your breasts be like clusters of grapes on the vine,
    the fragrance of your breath like apples,
     and your mouth like the best wine.
